Day Late–but Good News

Nov.1, 2011–Yes, Monday, my usual blog day has passed but a surprise  (and most welcome) visitor from my "olden days" arrived for a great re-cap of old times yesterday leaving no time for Blog Monday.

I was the guest speaker this morning at one of the (hundreds– maybe more?) nation-wide branches of P.E.O. a women's organization.  (Philosophical Educational Organizations)  More than 25 gracious women applauded my talk and offered complimentary words as well as purchasing 11 copies of my four published books.  Most gratifying.

But my main purpose with this blog is to be as helpful as possible for any readers out there in blogland who tune in:  I announced the Central Coast Writers Contest last week.

The Sacramento Branch of California Writers Club also announces its 2012 Short Story Contest.   750 words max. Prizes $100, $50, $25.    Entry fee $10.  Deadline, Jan. 31, 2012.  Details to be announced.  I will relay these a.s.a.p.

A Writers Conference will be held in San Francisco Feb. 16-20 with best selling writers lined up to speak.  See the website at www.sfwriters.org for full details.  Register by Dec. 31 an save $100 on the enrollment price.

Sharpen your pens–or your keyboard fingers, and enter contests.  I won a second place and $50 in a recent CWC contest. Good way to get the juices flowing.  Willma

Back to Blogging–I hope

Oct. 9, 2011– Following a "hitch" in sending Blogs, I hope I am back and reaching "subscribers" again.

This has been a busy week with dear writer/visitor from California. As to writing news, I'm not sure that I reported my 2nd place win for short story "Peligro" in the Inland Empire annual contest.

My coming week is full with visitor gone but workshops meeting Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

See SAFERY PIN REVIEW.  Send one to three pieces of unpublished fiction of no more than thirty words each to safetypinreview@gmail.com   Pays $1 per story.

Good luck, Willma
